With his career starting in New York’s food scene, just to take off in the Greek culinary landscape, chef Yiannis Lucacos creates the Deck’s menu with an avant-garde interpretation of the Greek and Mediterranean cuisine and an innovative approach to it. After rising to prominence through his stint as the executive chef of Yes Hotels & Restaurants group (Semiramis, Twentyone, Periscope), he realized his dream of opening his own restaurant by starting the renowned restaurant “Psomi & Alati”.
Meanwhile, the chef garners wide popularity through the successful TV shows “MasterChef”, “Junior MasterChef”, “Dr Cook”, and “Just Cooking”, where he also showcased his talent in sharing his knowledge with younger chefs and with anyone who loves to cook. The modern cooking workshop TheSeminarProject, which offers hands-on cooking lessons and creative cooking experience at a private-own space, came thus as a the obvious next step in his creative course.
The project of Deck brings him to his favourite Cyclades for the second time, after his successful collaboration with the “Rabagas” restaurant in Sifnos.
Yiannis Lucacos has written two books: “Psomi & Alati – The Cookbook”, which is based on the philosophy of his first restaurant – and which was awarded at the Gourmet awards with the prize of the best cookbook of the year 2011 by a Greek author; and “Chef from the beginning – for small and big children in cuisine”.
His has won three more distinctions at the Eleftherotypia Gourmet Awards and he has also been honoured with a Golden Toque Award.
